The Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is seeking a Division Chief of Regional Anesthesia in coastal Charleston, South Carolina. The new Division Chief will lead a multi-disciplinary, team-based practice with clinical, academic, administrative, and research responsibilities.
About the Division:
The Division of Regional Anesthesia cares for patients at two teaching hospitals and three ambulatory surgical centers. Supported by a Department of 100 faculty with 72 residents and fellows, the Division of Regional Anesthesia currently consists of 13 faculty with substantial opportunity to expand. During the past 3 years, the Division was responsible for almost 10,000 peripheral nerve blocks annually encompassing a wide variety of techniques ranging from paravertebral, quadratus lumborum, and stellate ganglion blocks to interscalene, adductor canal, and sciatic-popliteal nerve blocks. The Division also places and maintains neuraxial catheters for postoperative pain and perineural catheters both for inpatients and outpatients. The Department has an ACGME accredited Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain Medicine Fellowship approved for two fellows per year.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience at the Associate Professor level or above
- Board certification in Anesthesiology
- Fellowship training in Regional Anesthesiology
- Eligibility for South Carolina licensure
- Strong clinical, educational, and interpersonal skills that will enable him/her to work collaboratively with colleagues and be a leader within the department and institution
- Research experience and interests are preferred but not required
