Excellent opportunity for a Physician Assistant (PA) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), in beautiful coastal Tampa Bay, who has an interest in Neurology, is proactive, organized, self-aware, engaged, flexible, humble, compassionate, and has a strong desire to learn. The position consists mostly of outpatient Neurology and some inpatient Neurology. The practice is near a major medical center and is a referral center for epilepsy/seizure disorders and sleep medicine. General Neurology patients are also seen. It is a Level 3 epilepsy center with a video-EEG monitoring unit. The physician supervisor is an internationally recognized leader in Neurology and is well known for his teaching skills. He will mentor the PA.

There are opportunities to participate in educational conferences, including monthly epilepsy surgery conferences, grand rounds, and teaching conferences. You will be part of a multidisciplinary engaged team that provides outstanding, compassionate care to its patients. Requirements

•       Perform comprehensive neurological evaluations, including obtaining detailed medical histories and conducting focused neurological examinations.
•       Assess, diagnose, and develop treatment plans for patients with acute and chronic neurological disorders under physician supervision.
•       Manage patients with conditions such as stroke, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, migraines, neuropathies, and movement disorders.
•       Order and review diagnostic tests, including laboratory studies, CT scans, MRI, EEG, EMG, nerve conduction studies, and lumbar puncture results.
•       Assist physicians with neurological procedures and perform approved procedures within the PA scope of practice.
•       Provide inpatient and outpatient neurology consultations and follow-up care.
•       Monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans, and coordinate multidisciplinary care with physicians, therapists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
•       Educate patients and families regarding neurological diagnoses, medications, treatment options, disease progression, and lifestyle modifications.
•       Prescribe medications and monitor therapeutic effectiveness and potential adverse effects in accordance with state laws and institutional policies.
•       Respond to neurological emergencies, including acute stroke evaluations and other urgent neurological conditions.
•       Document patient encounters accurately and promptly within the electronic medical record (EMR).
•       Collaborate with supervising neurologists to ensure evidence-based, patient-centered care.
•       Coordinate referrals to specialists, rehabilitation services, home health agencies, and community resources as appropriate.
•       Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical research, and continuing medical education activities.
•       Maintain compliance with federal, state, institutional, and professional standards, including HIPAA regulations and credentialing requirements.
•       Serve as a resource for nursing staff, residents, and other healthcare providers regarding neurological conditions and treatment protocols.
•       Preferred Qualifications
•       Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
•       Current NCCPA certification and state PA licensure.
•       DEA registration (if prescribing controlled substances).
•       BLS certification.
•       Strong clinical reasoning, communication, and teamwork skills.
•       Proficiency with electronic health records and clinical documentation systems.
