We are seeking a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to join our Quality team. The ideal candidate has strong welding knowledge, hands-on fabrication experience, and exposure to NDT inspection practices. Compensation will be based on candidates professional background and skills (DOE).
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
Perform welding inspections per applicable codes such as: AWS D1.1, D1.6, ASME, etc. and customer specifications
Review and interpret engineering drawings, WPS, PQRs, and weld symbols
Conduct in-process, final, and visual welding inspections
Verify welder qualifications and maintain certification records and continuity
Support NDT processes (VT required; PT/MT preferred)
Develop and maintain weld procedures and submit required documentation
Maintain inspection documentation and compliance records
Collaborate with welding, fabrication, and production teams to solve quality issues
Participate in internal audits and quality continuous improvement initiatives
Required Qualifications
Active AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification
3+ years of welding, fabrication, or welding inspection experience
Strong knowledge of welding symbols, codes, and standards
Knowledge of WPS/PQR development and welder performance qualifications
Ability to read engineering/shop drawings
Experience in manufacturing or fabrication environment
Proficiency with documentation and quality control processes
Proficiency with Excel, PDFs, and other Microsoft Office programs
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications
NDT experience or certification (VT required; PT/MT preferred)
Experience with aerospace or defense quality systems (AS9100/ISO 9001)
Experience with Structural Steel Construction (AISC)
Technical college or trade school welding education
Familiarity with inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, bend, and climb as needed for inspections
Ability to lift 60 lbs
Use of ladders, weld booths, and fabrication shop environment
