SUMMARY
The Laboratory Manager is responsible for providing leadership to Laboratory staff including timely and meaningful performance feedback, regular communication regarding ServiTech’s direction and initiatives, and will seek opportunities to develop and train employees with consideration for the desired short-term and long-term outcomes of the customers and ServiTech.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with organizational leadership to establish and implement benchmarks for operational efficiencies, productivity, quality assurance, profitability, and customer service to establish reliability and convenience for customers of ServiTech.
- Requires professional and effective communication skills, effective organizational skills, and the ability to plan, coordinate, and effectively manage the operational workflow.
- Work with other management and the Chief Laboratory Officer to ensure growth and success.
- Continuously forecast and plan for growth, staffing, and seasonal demands, manage business inventory and expenses, and ensure standard operating procedures are reviewed, adhered to, and updated regularly.
- Responsible for providing leadership to Laboratory staff including timely and meaningful performance feedback, regular communication regarding ServiTech’s direction and initiatives, and will seek opportunities to develop and train employees with consideration for the desired short-term and long-term outcomes of the customers and ServiTech.
- Establish and maintain training and safety programs within the Laboratory division.
- Must demonstrate a professional image by proactively taking responsibility, troubleshooting/problem solving, working individually and as a team; and successfully ensuring quality, productivity, efficiency, and safety.
- Manage all of the details associated with running the laboratory; building and instrumentation maintenance, growing and maintaining customer relationships, lab optimization and employee development.
- This position will also be required to perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Remarkable customer service and leadership skills including the ability to manage difficult or emotional situations, respond promptly to customer needs, resolve questions, complaints, and concerns immediately.
- Business acumen to manage the operations including budgeting.
- Experience using MS Office suite of products is required. Excellent computer operation skills and the ability to learn various software programs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to be flexible, manage change, meet deadlines and drive for results.
- Ability to ethically analyze data and report results with integrity.
- Ability to focus, pay attention to details, monitor work for accuracy, and manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to lead by example, handle confidential information, and supervise and work with various personalities.
- Prompt and regular attendance.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises the laboratory department. This position also provides vision, strategy, and leadership in conjunction with the Chief Laboratory Officer and other divisions of the company. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include but are not limited to customer service, administrative support, planning, project management, and problem-solving.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
A Bachelor of Science degree or an agricultural-related area of study or comparable experience in a similar position or related field is preferred. Agricultural and Laboratory operations management knowledge and experience. Minimum of 5 years management experience, required. Experience successfully leading and motivating a team(s) including performance management. Excellent computer proficiency and the ability to learn new software are required. Willing to seek out and attend additional continuing education, seminars, classes, or other job-related education requirements or opportunities.
