Description
The Instructional Systems Designer I position onsite in Huntsville, AL supports ISD initiatives and reports to a Program Manager for day-to-day supervision and career development.
Summary:
The ISD I develop Interactive Multimedia Instruction (IMI) training solutions using the ISD methodology. Conducts analysis: Needs Analysis, Job/Task Analysis, and Front-End Analysis. Develops design plans for paper, IVT, video, and WBT that include developing learning objectives, determining functionality and navigation strategies, documenting minimum technical specifications (user and client), determining learning strategies and content flow, determining testing/evaluation requirements and interactivity, and planning the courseware functionality.
Develops instructor and student guides, scripts, and storyboards to include content and theme; defines all media elements (graphics, animations, video, audio); and explains programming (user interaction) requirements. Writes narration scripts and plans music/sound effects. Confers with client SMEs.
Responsibilities:
Creates design plan for training projects (paper, CBT, WBT, video, DVD)
Develops concepts/themes and instructional strategies for projects
Creates reports, design plans, and storyboards within the timeframe given with little or no supervision
Interacts with customer SMEs without supervision
Advises Task Lead or Project Manager of scope issues
Works on a variety of assignments on an as-needed basis
Can conduct every facet of the ISD process with little supervision and guidance
Facilitate data collection meetings to ensure the acquisition of all required and relevant data.
Leverage sound instructional design, prevailing learning theories, and performance improvement processes using the ADDIE Instructional Model.
Review technical guidance and work with SMEs to extract technical instructional content to support learning objectives.
Participate in creative and technical development teams to identify appropriate and innovative IMI solutions.
Proactively engage stakeholders to successfully accomplish schedule milestones.
Use rapid authoring tools like Adobe Captivate and/or Articulate Storyline to develop courseware is a plus.
Work with other ISDs, Project Manager, and other development team members to meet production, quality, and schedule requirements.
Ensure 100% of own work output complies with requirements and quality standards.
Organize course content in accordance with instructional design plans.
Requirements
Required Education, Experience, and Skills
Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Systems Design, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Instructional Technology, or related field. A technical or AAS degree may be accepted based on job experience.
US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain security clearance.
1-2 years of training-related experience; must have extensive knowledge of the Instructional Systems Design model to design, develop, plan, and organize training programs and IMI learning solutions.
Knowledge and demonstrated experience of the ISD process in the development of instructor-led, web-based training (WBT) and blended learning solutions.
Familiarity with Adobe Captivate, Storyline or similar authoring tools.
Ability to develop instructionally sound learning solutions and testing materials with minimal supervision
Demonstrated ability to apply creative instructional themes and strategies to a variety of delivery media, including classroom and online
Effective communication skills in the interaction with the client, project team, and senior management
Ability to work in a fast paced environment with little to no supervision
